Alvento Winery, located in Vineland, was founded in 2001 near the waterfront of Lake Ontario. The vineyard is owned by local peach agriculturalists- the Zhang’s family - who dreamed of running a winery in the region. Small batch wines are now crafted from established vines that offer quality fruit with subtle complexities.
Vineyards are planted on long gentle slopes and enjoy uninterrupted sunshine throughout the day. Winds from the deep waters to the north, cool the sun-drenched vineyards in the summer and warm them on chilly nights. The wind, rain and sun moderate the climatic conditions throughout the season for steady, even ripening. This ancient bond between these elements brings great promise to this special agricultural land.
Alvento has a long history of creating tannin-rich, old world style red wines. Under the new management and ownership Alvento is changing this direction by taking inspiration from the English translation of Alvento; “At the Wind”. Alvento is now focusing on wine styles that are refreshing and aromatic. The tannin-rich wines will still be featured as a part of the library collection.
