I had company over and we started with an Amarone, which was excellent. We then opened this bottle. I wasn’t expecting it to match the Amarone—and it didn’t. The wine was perfectly drinkable with company, but having an Amarone first really highlighted how comparatively thin it felt. Straightforward fruit flavours, a decent bite to the tannins, but overall very little complexity.
