Very good value in Gran Reserva - a top level Rioja that spends a minimum of five years in cask and bottle before...
Rich and potent, but nicely leathery.A very good example of oak integration and purity with notable style. Best now...

Fresh, medium-high to high intensity aromatics are fresh with red berry, cherry, sweet baking spice, and vanilla aromas. The palate is medium-full bodied with fine, supple tannins that are a touch grippy. Lovely, balanced aroma replays on the palate along with a juicy mid-palate. Nicely balanced throughout, while the finish is long and graceful. 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, and 5% Mazuelo. Tasted Sept/2019.

I rarely buy Rioja, fearing the dreaded coconut attack of overt American oak ageing. This Gran Reserva strikes an excellent balance between the red cherry fruit, and oak flavours. The integration of the wood is seamless and the complexity and length are outstanding. At almost 10yrs from harvest, this is still fresh and delicious. Top notch stuff here. Taste May 2022;

Bright ruby colour, not showing much age at all. Nose is similarly vibrant and open, with notes of violets, herbs and dried fruit. Quite light on the palet — only medium bodied — with ripe fruit flavours and the oak supporting and not dominating. Tanins are all resolved but a bit of acid bite on the end, so I’m thinking drink up over the next 1-2 years while fruit is still present. Nice modern style Rioja.
Top Quality for a good price.
