John and Barbara Neufeld have grown grapes on their large, 95-hectare Niagara Lakeshore property for over 30 years, venturing into the wine business at the turn of the century. Their inaugural 2003 Icewine put Palatine Hills on the map, winning Wine of the Year at the Ontario Wine Awards. Today, they are poised to double their production, creating affordably priced Reserve and Estate wines. New winemaker Jeff Innes takes on a portfolio of traditional Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot-based reds, fine Sauvignon Blanc, unoaked Chardonnay, Riesling, a peer-acknowledged Gewurztraminer and Icewine.
