Delicious
Paul Pender didn't mind the cooler 2011 vintage for his reds, enabling a more vibrant style. This Cab Franc elicits blackberry, dark plum and black cherry notes along with integrated oak (mocha, vanilla, baking spice). Well balanced with good acidity and some tannic grip (but not vice like). The fruit is sourced from other growers, so it's not certified biodynamic in the Tawse line, but nonetheless it is a quality cab offering good value. Excellent length. March 2015.
This is a fantastic wine with red berry (strawberry) and plum fruit, sweet tobacco and cedar. Quite dry, with med+ acidity, med alcohol and med body with ripe fine grained tannins. The long finish reveals a touch of the "animal" flavours reminiscent of a Chinon from the Loire. Went great with Bangers & Mash.
