La Montecchia Ca'emo Colli Euganei Rosso 2009, Doc
Cabernet + Merlot
Veneto, Italy
$15.75 (316141)
A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet that offers aromas of tar, sour cherry, blackcurrant, red and black plums, and baking chocolate. The cherry notes shine through on the palate. Elegance and finesse throughout and a tangy edge to the red fruit on the finish. A perfect partner for lamb chops or a meaty pasta. (VINTAGES panel, March 2013)Critic Reviews (1)
Inviting, open, fragrant savoury and herbal blend here of merlot and cabernet, clearly a cool climate style wine...

Dark ruby in colour with a medium+ intense nose.
A simple yet pleasant wine. The nose is more inviting than the taste.
Positives: This wine features cedar, sour cherry, blackcurrants, blackberry, radicchio, sage, oregano, leather and cocoa. Medium body and tannins with good acidity and a fairly long length
Negatives: Slightly watery and a bitter note on the finish. However, the next day there was no bitterness.
Interesting Point: The owner of the winery is Count Umbero Capodilista whose family can be traced back to the late 10th Century.
Drink now on it own or pair it with pizza.
