Villabella Oseleta 2007, Igt Rosso Veronese (1500ml)
Other Red
Veneto, Italy
$250.00 (513118)
Oseleta is a local red grape indigenous to Verona, and it is beyond rare to be able to taste a premium version, let alone one in magnum format and crafted partially in the appassimento style. Dark-opaque ruby in colour, the electrifyingly original 2007 Villabella offers deceptively simple aromas of black plums, licorice, ‘mellow’ leather, sushi wrapper, violets, vanilla, and spice. Very complex, as a matter of fact, featuring outstanding, seriously compelling fruit, firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a lasting, characterful hint of smooth plums and licorice on the finish. Positively weird in every sense of the word, almost intellectual in its originality, power, and breadth. Now-2024. Score: 93 (Julian Hitner, www.WineAlign.com, Sept 2011)Critic Reviews (1)
