Savagnin can make powerful and spicy whites. This has intense, very flinty/burnt match aroma, with some dusty, peanut...
Juniper, cedar and oak dominate this otherwise delicate wine. Unforunate level of manipulation here because there...

Not bad, not great. Was hoping for a bit more from this wine. Loads of citrus on the nose, along with some a bit of spicy, oaky notes, but not a ton of complexity. Really beautiful acidity on the palate with the citrus and spice shining through. Excellent length on the finish. Just wish there was a bit more going on with this wine. Tasted October 2012.
First try at a Savignin, so I have no context. Nose struck me as a dog dipped in fruit cocktail (terrier instead of terroir?), but the palate was nice..snappy acidic fruit finish, possible touch of RS coming through.
I will try a different Savignin if I can find one.
