Plums, tobacco, and herbs on the nose. There is plenty of dark fruit with firm tannins on the palate. The wine is medium-bodied, extremely well balanced, and incredible value.
Amazing deep and smooth Italian red here. Like Meat Loaf at the Tea Emporium eating a pastrami sandwich. Its big, kinda ugly, and smells like fresh juicy meat and dried loose herbs. Pair this with a ketchup smothered, piping hot slice of meat from the loaf pan. I’d do anything for wine….. but I won’t drink tea, no I won’t drink tea.

Old world wine here, with rustic notes of prunes, dried fruit and some pleasant bitterness especially on the long finish. Lots of complexity and very approachable. Super value for $15. Tasted April 2012.
The 2008 Taurino Salice Salentino Riserva is a medium bodied, integrated wine, with intense aromas of pine-cedar-oak (as decanting progresses), clove and faint liquorice on the nose and red currant and pomegranate on the palate. It has a sharp acidity, refined tannins (decant for 15-30 min) and a bit hot, medium to long finish. Drink now or hold for 5+ years. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89 pts - not a food friendly wine, instead enjoy by itself or with some hard cheeses. Tasted Apr/12.
